Ensure you have a valid Activation ID for your software product
An Activation ID is a 32-character code formatted into eight groups of four characters, like this abcd-ef01-2345-6789-abcd-ef01-2345-6789
Do not confuse an Activation ID with an Entitlement ID. While they share a similar format, an Entitlement ID represents a collection of one or more individual Activation IDs.
If you're unsure whether your Activation ID is valid, verify it through the End-User Portal.
In case you have a 16-character codes, these are CCKEY's and not applicable to this licensing system, but rather the Classic Licensing.
With an active internet connection
Activate Local License Online
Follow these simple steps to activate your license on a device with an internet connection:
Step 1: Open the Software
- Install the software and open it for the first time.
- The Materialise License Wizard will appear automatically.
- Click Activate New License to begin.
Step 2: Choose License Type
- Choose Activate Local License in the next window.
Step 3: Enter Your Activation ID
- Type the Activation ID into the provided field.
- To activate multiple IDs, click Add More and enter each additional Activation ID.
- Click Activate to proceed.
Step 4: Confirm Activation
- If activation is successful, a confirmation message will appear.
- Scroll down the features list and click Finish to start using the software.
Viewing Your Licenses
To check your license details, go to the My Licenses section.
Here’s what you’ll see:
- All: Lists all active licenses and features.
- Version: Shows the highest version your license allows.
- Type: Indicates if your license is Local or Floating.
- Status: Displays Active for valid licenses.

Days Left: Shows how many days remain until expiration.
- Licenses nearing expiration will have a yellow exclamation mark.
- Licenses nearing expiration will have a yellow exclamation mark.
Without an active internet connection
Map Licenses to Offline Devices
Follow these simple steps to activate your license on a device without an internet connection:
Step 1: Open the Software
- Install the software and open it for the first time.
- The Materialise License Wizard will appear automatically.
- Click Activate New License to begin.
Step 2: Select Offline Activation
- Choose Activate Local License in the next window.

- Click on Offline Activation.
Step 3: Generate the Request File
- When asked about the response file, click NO, GENERATE IT.
- Enter your Activation ID(s). If you have more than one, click Add More to include them.
- Click GENERATE to create a file named LicenseRequest.bin.
- Save this file (e.g., in your Downloads folder).
Step 4: Use the Materialise End-User Portal
- On a device connected to the internet, go to the Materialise End-User Portal.
- Click on Offline License (De)activation.
- For Upload type, select Generate license or confirm license reduction or return.
- Click Choose File, then upload the LicenseRequest.bin file (use a USB stick if needed to transfer it).
Step 5: Download the License File
- After uploading, the portal will confirm the license is generated.
- Download the license file by clicking the provided link.
- Transfer the file (e.g., via USB stick) back to your offline device.
Step 6: Activate the License on Your Offline Device
- Open the License Wizard and go back to the Offline license activation screen (click Back twice if needed).
- Select Activate Local License > Offline Activation.
- When prompted, click YES (to indicate you have the response file).
Step 7: Finalize the Activation
- Drag and drop the downloaded license file into the wizard, or click Choose Response File to locate and upload it.
- Click Activate.
- A confirmation message will appear. Click Finish to complete the activation.
Your license is now successfully activated!
