With a floating license, the licenses are activated once on a shared Floating License Server. Each workstation then connects to that server to check out a license — no per-workstation activation.
There are two jobs, usually done by different people. Pick the one that applies to you.

Install the server and activate the shared licenses on it:
Connecting a workstation (end user)
The server is already running. Install the software and point it at the server. Do this on each PC.
Optional: Once your setup is working, license administrators can also manage licenses and devices in the Materialise End-User Portal or control who can use floating licenses with allow and block lists.
